Down Syndrome Consciousness Month Feb 2009

Coming right after the holidays, the preparations for the Down Syndrome Consciousness Month in Feb 2009 seem to be very hectic. With so much to get done in barely a month, we are happy to be holding two major events this year:

Feb 6, 2009: 6th Tee-up for Down's Golf Tournament at Valley Golf South Course.

Feb 22, 2009: "Stand-up for Down's" is this year's theme for the Happy Walk that shall be held at the SM Megamall in Metro Manila.

DSAPI 2008 Highlights

Description: 2008 was another successful year for the DSAPI! There were so many activities and projects completed, it was truly a busy year for all of us! Taking a short breather to look back at all of these accomplishments, we continue to be amazed at the strength of the organization that is mainly enabled through dedicated volunteers. On behalf of the Board and Officers, we wish to thank everyone for their tremendous support and passion! Keep up the good work and let’s continue to encourage one another as we fulfill the dreams of the DSAPI!

7th National Down Syndrome Consciousness Month

In celebration of the “National Down Syndrome Consciousness Month” in February 2009, DSAPI shall once again strive to raise the awareness of Down Syndrome (DS) to immensely help in educating the public on the great potential that persons with DS possess to enjoy full and decent lives in dignity as well as to achieve higher degrees of self-reliance and social integration. DSAPI's line up of activities for the entire month of February is as follows:

The Down's Baby Creed

My face may be different but my feelings are the same.
I laugh and I cry and take pride in my gains.
I was sent here among you to teach you to love,
As God in the Heavens looks down from above.

To Him I'm not different, His love knows no bounds.
It's those here among you in cities and towns,
That judge me by standards that man has imparted.
But this family I've chosen will help me get started
For I'm one of the children, so special and few,
That came here to learn the same lessons as you.

That love is acceptance, it must come from the heart;
We all have a purpose though not the same start.
The Lord gave me life to live and embrace,
And I'll do it as you do but at my own pace.
